Abstract

The development of the Canadian west and the transition from trading territory to settled territory produced number ofjurisdictional and administrative problems. Focusing his attention on the subject of criminal law the author traces the process whereby welter of jurisdictions had, by 1876, become "a coherent body of criminal law".
